The Graeae, three sisters, shared one eye and lived in a land of perpetual twilight. Gray-haired from birth, they were the sisters and protectors of the Gorgons. Perseus stole their eye and did not return it till they told him how to find the Gorgon Medusa, thus betraying their sister.
