Christopher Michel - Montpelier, VT (USA):

April 10, 2001:
This book sits, among others, on my library shelf
a wall I have built to defend myself from the glare
of sunlight, from the soft punch of spoken words.

April 26, 2001:
This is the book I use to put myself to sleep at
night. I believe it is philosophy, but having never read more
than a line, I do not know.
This book is pure smut. It's filth. It's dirty and
lecherous, and I have read it nearly ninety times.
This book puts evil thoughts into my head. I fear this
book, and often cannot even touch the cover without my skin crawling.
This book saved me. It is called the "Guide for the Advanced
Soul" and it contains advice. You are supposed to open it
to any page, and read the perfect answer to your problems.
I want to buy a prequel to that book, called the "Handbook
for the Remedial Soul." Pages would have sentences like "Don't touch
that, it's hot" and "Don't put your finger there, you'll get shocked.
    See? I told you so."
