Kathrine Varnes - Columbia, Missouri (USA):

April 01, 2001:
This book spit on me from a high shelf in the PS
    3536s;
I had to climb a library ladder to spit back, but when
    I opened my mouth, it leapt inside and ruffled its acid free
    pages against my esophagus like a cat wanting to be fed, this
    book, but fighting instead.
This book, its soothing little black&white fingers, petted me like I was
    the animal, like I was the one with the problem.
This book told me to roll over, naughty thing, tried to match
    its cloth spine against mine;
This book brags every night in the dark library, rattling off the
    names of the beauty queens who balanced its beauty on top of
    their heads.
