Sunrise with Hydra

I grab my neutral sweater,
stuff my carry-on
for a few scenarios
and stand in line.

Hello, clouds. Hello,
droning. Hello,
warehouses of arrival.

And now the watch at monitors,
fast friendships with nurses
and percentages as we turn
through another learning curve.

And you again, Grief, time
to squat on my chest and incubate
this year's nest of icy scabs.
