Listen to The Kinks More

I can see the triceratops of love from here
devastating and imaginary.
The homes of the rich sun themselves like vultures above the river.
I can see viruses balanced on railings
and the gait of the teenager emerging from the automatic door
with a job application white as a cue ball,
the trees already the color of early corn.
Run, poet! The extinct feet are already coming down to cool off in
       our shallows.
