Spine

Bone ruffle,

hold up the sky
of myself.

Do not abandon

the body
with your precarious

dress of milk and wire.

Threaded hearts,
barbed ornaments.

26 dumb godletsó

their little skulls
bobbing on the line.

Eyeletted, acid-white.

Mere midden,
             such slippage.

Fear in the fiber,

cloud after
cloud on a string.

             Hello, unraveling.

Torque of dis-
ease, of wince

and prayer. Stay

with me now, stand
next to the spire

of my crumbling.
