in the still of the night

in the still of the night
when not a thought
chills with not a breeze
anywhere to be found
not a nightbird calling
not a fine light flickering
no crickets, no crickets singing
no far far away train whistles calling
not a rustle
not a shimmer
the way a petal falls
on its own
away from all the others
with no one watching
that's how one human leaves us
