Virgil Suárez was born in Havana, Cuba in 1962. Since 1974 he has lived in the United States. He is the author of numerous books, including four novels and four collections of poetry (Palm Crows is forthcoming this year from the University of Arizona Press). He divides his time between Miami and Tallahassee where he lives with his family, and is currently at work on his new novel Sonny Manteca's Blues, and a new collection of poems. He is a professor of creative writing at The Florida State University.
