INTRODUCTION
Poetry Daily, a dynamic arts non-profit bringing the best contemporary poetry to readers everywhere, is seeking a developer to expand its interactive, web-based services to readers. We are looking for a forward-looking, collaborative professional, sympathetic to the needs and aspirations of the non-profit sector. We are prepared to pay a competitive market rate, and hope to build a long-term collaboration for future projects.
THE PROJECT
1) The developer will redevelop the Hot Off the Presses section, leveraging a new post type in WordPress to eliminate dependence on Goodreads. This task requires the creation of new post type in WordPress which:
- integrates with current Book Features
- allows Poetry Daily staff to enter complete data about books for storage in WordPress database
- integrates with current book purchasing affiliate links and systems
2) The developer will create a new Reading Room feature, in the style of Hot Off the Presses, to allow readers to discover, read about and explore contemporary literary journals directly from our web site:
- This feature uses data currently captured in WordPress, namely poems already featured on the site and their associated publications.
3) The developer will redesign the News Feed to allow staff to enter news items manually through the WordPress administrative dashboard to populate the news feeds throughout the site, eliminating Poetry Daily’s dependence on Twitter and external plugins for the on-site news feed.
4) The changes necessitate a partial redesign of the Main Screen of the site to highlight these new services to readers. (See mock-up below for an example.)
EXPERIENCE
Developers should be experienced in the use of the WordPress content management system, with demonstrable knowledge and application of PHP, Javascript, HTML, CSS and MySQL. Knowledge of the following plug-ins is also essential: Elementor Pro, Advanced Custom Fields, Code Snippets, Custom Post Type UI, and FacetWP.

The developer should submit a portfolio of coding projects for review and be prepared to work within the established brand of the Poetry Daily web site.
