Claudine Toutoungi is a poet and dramatist, whose poetry collections with Carcanet Press are Smoothie (2017), Two Tongues (2020 Winner – Ledbury Munthe Poetry Prize) and Emotional Support Horse (2024 Longlisted for the Jhalak Prize  ‘A strain of impish humour underwrites the poems… neatly balanced by gut-wrenching, affective beauty,’ – Vona Groarke, The Irish Times). Claudine’s poems have appeared in Poetry, The Poetry Review, PN Review, The Guardian, The New Statesman, Granta, The Financial Times and elsewhere. As a performer, Claudine contributes regularly to festivals and events across the UK and beyond. Her new audio dramatisation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility airs this December on BBC Radio 4. She is a recipient of the Royal Society of Literature’s 2025 Scriptorium Award.
